Elevating Workplace Culture Through Coaching and Mediation

With a career spanning three decades, Kirsty Augustine has built an exceptional reputation in Human Resources and Industrial Relations. As the Director of Consultancy Matters Pty Ltd, she is a trusted expert in coaching, mediation, and workplace culture transformation. Her extensive experience in senior management and board positions across various industries has positioned her as a sought-after consultant for businesses aiming to foster positive workplace environments and resolve complex employment challenges.

Kirsty’s expertise lies in dispute resolution, coaching leaders, and driving organisational change through effective mediation and strategic HR solutions. Holding a Bachelor of Business (HR/IR) from Queensland University of Technology and a Post Graduate Certificate in Industrial Relations from Charles Sturt University, she combines academic rigor with practical industry knowledge. Her additional qualifications as an Accredited Mediator and Certified Coach further reinforce her ability to navigate complex workplace dynamics with professionalism and precision.

Throughout her career, Kirsty has demonstrated a remarkable ability to lead HR and employment relations functions in both corporate and not-for-profit sectors. She has successfully negotiated long-standing enterprise agreements, overseen large-scale employment relations for thousands of employees, and managed workplace disputes with a strategic and solution-focused approach. Her tenure at CPB Contractors further solidified her expertise in industrial relations, where she managed employment matters across multiple regions, represented businesses in the Fair Work Commission, and developed strategies that have saved organisations millions in legal fees and operational risks.

Beyond her corporate achievements, Kirsty is deeply committed to fostering sustainable workplace practices. She has contributed her expertise to multiple boards and committees, including the Master Builders Association Industrial Relations Committee and the Brisbane Youth Service Board. Her involvement in these roles highlights her passion for improving employment relations not just within organisations but also at an industry-wide level.

Kirsty will be facilitating an upcoming executive roundtable on Psychosocial Hazards and Mental Health – Meeting Legal Obligations through Coaching and Conflict Resolution. As mental health concerns continue to rise in workplaces, recent legislative updates have placed greater emphasis on psychosocial hazards and employer responsibilities. While workplace investigations are a common tool for addressing compliance breaches, coaching and conflict resolution strategies are often underutilised despite their long-term benefits.

This session will provide HR leaders with practical insights into:

  • Identifying psychosocial hazards and their impact on workplace mental health

  • Understanding relevant legal obligations and compliance requirements

  • Exploring the advantages and limitations of workplace investigations

  • Leveraging organisational coaching, mediation, and conflict resolution techniques to foster healthier work environments

Designed for executives seeking to enhance their approach to workplace wellbeing, this roundtable will equip leaders with effective strategies to meet their legal obligations while cultivating a culture of support, engagement, and resilience.
